Entertainment television at its worst

The advantage to writing fiction is the opportunity to change or modify the beginning, middle or outcome of reality. The downside of turning reality into fiction is that the viewer or reader may actually believe the fiction to be reality.
Writers, directors and producers from the left and the right coast have decided to inject their own political agendas into their television projects. This trend began with #Dick Wolf who felt it necessary to degrade, disparage and denigrate #Sara Palin. That was followed the late night three Mousekateers who berate #Donald Trump and call it comedy. #Colbert #Kimmel #Fallon
The newest versions of telling half-truths was seen in ABC’s The Rookie and CBS’s Madam Secretary. In The Rookie, the character appears before a shooting review panel after being involved in a shooting incident. He was told that he was different from other people because he was required to answer all of the questions or lose his job. What the show failed to tell the viewer was that the officer could not be prosecuted if he was compelled to answer. That inaccuracy could lead to people to believe that police officers can be forced to give up their constitutional protections.
Madam Secretary used half-truths to portray a political view on Immigration using the detention of children s its base. To illustrate their point of view, the writers have the United States Secretary of State arrested for misdemeanor trespassing by a county sheriff.
The purpose of entertainment television is to provide the viewer an opportunity to relax after a long day and enjoy a sit-com, drama, or whatever genre they enjoy. It is not to promote a political viewpoint or agenda.
