Vengeance or Justice

The real question is whether the protestors outside of the Hennepin County Court House in Minneapolis are seeking justice in the death of George Floyd or whether they actually just want vengeance.
The Murder trial of the police officer seen on video kneeling on the neck of Mr. Floyd started this week with the selection of the jury, which is expected to take up to two weeks. Prospective jurors were required to complete a sixteen page questionnaire prior to being questioned by the attorneys in Court. One prospective juror testified that he had serious concerns that his address could be leaked to the protestors and his home and/or family could be in jeopardy as a result of his service. The juror was dismissed.
FOX News personality Tucker Carlson spent the first fifteen minutes of his primetime show focusing on this case. His story explained the information that was NOT released to the public by the Hennepin County Coroner and video not available to the media. One image Mr. Carlson introduced was a picture from the Minneapolis Police Academy showing the proper technique of kneeling on a person to gain control. Carlson also talked about the parts of the Coroner’s report not released to the media.
No one in the law enforcement profession has come out in support of the treatment of Mr. Floyd. There is absolutely no doubt that the actions of Officer Derek Chauvin were inappropriate, but that does not necessarily constitute a crime, especially the crime of Murder.
The reality is that any death involving police intervention is a tragedy and should be thoroughly investigated to find method(s) to avoid it happening again. But the deaths that have occurred are the responsibility of the person who refused to comply with the order of the officer. That is simply a fact. They would all be alive today had they chose the courtroom to fight in rather than the street. These incidents have also resulted in a significant number of the deaths of law enforcement officers because they failed to act and took unnecessary risks that cost them their life. Everyone loses.
