It was never about “defund the police.” It was never about “Trump is not my President.” It was never about “Black Lives Matter.” It is not about conservative or liberal or republican or democrat. It is all about the intolerance of people who disagree are the enemy and they must be destroyed.
Violence should not and cannot be tolerated because to do so would result in a civil war. That is what the fringe on both sides are working toward. Police officers are stuck in the middle and are being injured and killed at an alarming rate.
The problem centers on the fact that compromise is no longer an option and the destruction of those who disagree. It is not a new phenomenon which has been festering for many years with no solution anywhere in sight. The underlying problem appears to be that there are no consequences for bad behavior. Prosecutors are refusing to prosecute criminal behavior across the country, so the behavior not only continues, but escalates. It is a proven fact that when people are held accountable for their actions that serves as a deterrent to prevent that behavior.
The leaders of this country, at all levels, need to lower the temperature of the rhetoric and quickly and decisively respond to any illegal and/or threatening behavior.
It is interesting to note that the Capitol Police are being blamed for allowing the protests to become violent as they were clearly unprepared for the massive intrusion of people into the Capitol. But the “blame” has many co-conspirators. Law enforcement has, out of necessity, taken a low-key approach to protests because Mayors, Governors, legislators and the media have publicly praised protests and “people seeking justice.” The proof of that is Minneapolis. Portland, Seattle and other cities throughout the United States.
It is also interesting to note that here have no screams for the arrest or firing of the Capitol Police officer involved in the shooting of a female at the protest. Why is this?
