A police officer responding to a call is surrounded by people who are beating on his vehicle and his windows in Tacoma, WA. Is being vilified because he drove into the crowd fearing for his life, but not a single word of criticism for the people who were involved in the outrageous conduct from the media.
By these standards, a person who becomes a police officer gives up their right to defend themselves from physical harm because they chose this career. This is beyond ludicrous!
The officer has been put on administrative leave, which is normal, while the investigation of the incident is completed. There is no information that the people who damaged City property will be investigated for their criminal activity. Those people were apparently involved in peaceful protest of their grievances and that justifies their conduct.
This begs the question, “Why would anyone want to be a police officer in this environment?”
